If you have browsed many sites, you have probably come across some error message every now and then. An error may take place when the server cannot process a request (Error 400), if you must log in in order to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you are not permitted to access some webpage (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file that is not on the hosting server (Error 404). Encountering this kind of messages may often be aggravating because the pages have nothing in common with the actual Internet site. That’s why some hosting companies permit you to set your own error pages that will match the style of your own Internet site and which may have any content which you would like - details why the error has occurred, a suggestion what you can do or even some humorous remark. This kind of feature will help you keep the visitor on the website irrespective of the error or the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting

The custom error pages feature is provided with each cloud hosting package we offer and you shall be able to replace all generic pages with your own with no more than several clicks in your Hepsia hosting CP. You'll have to create the actual files and to upload them to your account, and then to set them for a particular domain or subdomain through the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel. You could do this for every website hosted in the account independently, so that each group of customized pages shall have the very same style and design as the site it is part of. If needed, you can always return back to a default page from our system or to the default Apache server page. Another way to set custom error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain/subdomain root folder and to add a few lines in it. If you have never done this before, you could simply copy the needed program code from our Help article on the subject.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

All of the semi-dedicated servers that we supply support personalized error pages and it shall not take more than a few clicks in your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this feature. The option is available in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel where you will have to enter the links to the custom-made files through simple drop-down menus and an easy to work with interface. Needless to say, you need to upload them inside your account before that. In case you do not want to use this function at some point, you could disable it just as quickly and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be displayed when your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to enable the personalized error pages. The file should contain a particular line of code plus a link for each and every error type and you can easily find an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
